A Representative Democracy

We’re on a mission to make our democracy truly representative and ensure that every voter has a fair shot at making their voice heard in the process. 

Attorney General Eric Holder established the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) with support from party leaders, President Barack Obama, and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi because they understood that the redistricting process was vulnerable to politicians who care more about protecting their own power than ensuring voters choose their representatives.

For more than a century, coalfield communities in southwestern Pennsylvania have been forced to find creative solutions to survive corporate pollution. Coalfield Justice Action works to protect public and environmental health by holding corporate polluters accountable and ensuring our elected officials listen to the people who live in communities impacted by fossil fuel extraction and use.

Regardless of their political party, we endorse candidates who understand the importance of community-led solutions for a healthy environment and thriving economy.

Together, we can create a place where everyone can breathe clean air, drink safe water, and live with dignity in the communities they call home.

In Clearfield, Erie, and Western PA there are over 2,000 Iron Workers specializing in the following craft sectors: structural steel erection, pre-cast concrete construction, bridge erection and repair, ornamental iron/curtain wall, concrete/reinforcing steel, pre-engineered metal buildings, welding, rigging/machinery moving, post tensioning, industrial construction, industrial plant maintenance, and wind turbine construction.

Taking pride in their craft and performance has resulted in the building of some of the most recognizable buildings, sports arenas, bridges, stadiums, monuments, and hospitals in the area and across the country.

Representative Malcolm Kenyatta is a legislator currently serving in the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

Representative Kenyatta is a barrier-breaking public figure, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color and one of the youngest people elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2018.

In February 2025 he was elected as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Throughout his career, Representative Kenyatta has been a vocal proponent of protecting workers’ rights and rooting out government corruption and waste. He holds multiple legislative leadership roles, including as a member of the powerful State Government Committee with oversight of state agencies and elections, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Government Operations; Chair of the Financial Services and Banking Subcommittee in the Commerce Committee; and as a member of the Finance and Judiciary Committees. In September of 2025, he walked from Philadelphia to Harrisburg, a 105 mile journey, to bring awareness to mass transit funding in Pennsylvania. Senate Republicans have refused to fund mass transit across the Commonwealth, stalling a budget bill from being signed into law.

In 2020, he was chosen to give the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention alongside a group of other ‘Rising Stars,’ and in 2024, he returned to the DNC as an individual speaker, continuing to represent the next generation of Democratic leadership. His groundbreaking political career and personal life have been the subject of two award-winning documentaries, including an Al Roker-produced feature-length film, Kenyatta: Do Not Wait Your Turn.

NASW-PA PACE fosters the participation of interested members to elect candidates who support NASW-PA public policy goals.

OPCMIA Local Union 526 belongs to the Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons International Association (OPCMIA) of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO. Covering 33 counties of Western Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement.

We are democratically elected bodies dedicated to representing the interests of working people at the state and local levels.

We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people — regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.

PACE is the Political Action Committee for Education, run by PSEA, the Pennsylvania State Education Association

Through PSEA members’ voluntary contributions, PACE elects pro-public education candidates who influence its members’ jobs and schools.

Represent PA is the only organization in Pennsylvania dedicated to investing in pro-choice Democratic women running for the PA House and Senate statewide.

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Pennsylvania State Council represents 80,000 workers statewide.

Their members include workers in property services, health care, public service, schools, laundry and distribution facilities.

The mission of the Steel City Stonewall Democrats is to advance equal rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. We will support public policies that advance that mission in the United States, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the greater Pittsburgh region. We will help elect qualified Democratic candidates that support equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. We will work to sensitize and educate all candidates and office holders, Democratic Party leaders, and the community at large to the issues and concerns of the LGBT community.

Within the LGBTQIA+ community, we will promote awareness of and response to political issues that are relevant to LGBTQIA+ citizens.

Teamsters Joint Council #40 represents Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia. Our combined membership totals nearly 35,000 hard working men and women representing employment in various private and public sector jobs.

The Teamsters represent members employed in transportation, warehouse and manufacturing as well as public service jobs. We are affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents 1.4 million members and the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters, which represents nearly 95,000 members in parts of West Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware as well as Pennsylvania.

The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) is one of the largest and most diverse unions in North America, with members in virtually every sector of the economy.

UAW-represented workplaces range from multinational corporations, small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations.

The UAW has more than 400,000 active members and more than 580,000 retired members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

There are more than 600 local unions in the UAW. The UAW currently has 1,750 contracts with some 1,050 employers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

A unique strength of the UAW is the solidarity between its active and retired members. A solid majority of the union’s retirees stay actively involved in the life of their union, participating in retiree chapters and playing a vital role in the UAW’s community action program.

Since its founding in 1935, the UAW has consistently developed innovative partnerships with employers and negotiated industry-leading wages and benefits for its members. UAW members have benefited from a number of collective bargaining breakthroughs, including:

• The first employer-paid health insurance plan for industrial workers.

• The first cost-of-living allowances.

• A pioneering role in product quality improvements.

• Landmark job and income security provisions.

• Comprehensive training and educational programs.

The United Mine Workers of America is a diverse union with a membership that includes coal miners, manufacturing workers, clean coal technicians, health care workers, corrections officers, and public employees throughout the United States and Canada.

Because of the union’s long-term emphasis on safety, UMWA members work in the safest environments in their respective industries.
