PA House District 48

Rebecca is running to be the legislative representative in Harrisburg for Pennsylvania’s 48th House District, which covers a wide stretch of Washington County. It includes the City of Washington and Donora and a number of smaller townships and boroughs that exemplify this region.

The district includes the townships of Amwell, Carroll, East Finley, Fallowfield, Morris, North Franklin, North Strabane, Nottingham, Somerset, South Franklin, South Strabane, and West Finley, along with the boroughs of East Washington and Green Hills.

Some parts of the district are doing great. Others still don’t have broadband internet. What every part has in common is families who want strong schools, a hopeful future, and a continuation of that balance between people, business and nature.

The next ten years will bring real change to Washington County. New industries like AI, robotics, and advanced batteries are already making investments here. Large-scale data center proposals are raising big questions about energy, water, zoning, and who gets a say in how our communities grow.

At the same time, federal decisions about Medicaid, education funding, and infrastructure are going to hit places like ours first. Whether those changes help our families or leave them behind depends on the choices we make right now, and on whether the people making those choices are paying attention to the communities that have to live with the results.

Washington County has a lot that’s worth protecting. We’re known for our deep roots in coal, steel, and natural gas, but fewer realize we’re the top county in Pennsylvania for beef cattle, and for sheep and wool. There is a balance between people, business, and nature.

We’re proud of Washington & Jefferson College and the Whiskey Rebellion. Ken Griffey Jr, Ken Griffey Sr and Stan Musial are all from Donora, but that didn’t spoil us for enjoying PONY and the Washington Wild Things, which continues to be the most entertaining pro baseball team in all of Western Pennsylvania.
